Client was returning from the Lake of the Ozarks when he was clocked by a State Trooper going 119 mph in a 70 mph zone. The prosecutor's offer was 2 days in jail and a conviction. Negotiations proved fruitless so Ruth made an assessment of the presiding judge's prior practices in such situations and determined that an open plea before the judge would be most effective. Ruth was able to explain the client's circumstances and the impact that a conviction and jail time would have on his life. The result was a suspended imposition of sentence with community service and a driver improvement program class. The client was able to avoid a conviction, points on his driving record and jail time.
