Possession of a Controlled Substance
Ruth was handling a separate probation violation hearing with a potential re-imposition of a 15 year sentence when the client was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Ruth was able to convince the judge to continue the probation without a revocation. Ten months later the client was charged with another possession of a controlled substance and Ruth persuaded the judge to allow the entirety of the probation to count as time served. The client was therefore able to parole after on month in jail.
